Overview

This tour is designed to help you get to know another of Germany’s Baltic gems: Lübeck – the red-brick city of the Hansa, Thomas Mann and Günther Grass. From your ship’s port in Kiel you will drive to Lübeck where your own private, English-speaking guide will meet you for a 2-hour tour of the city that includes the iconic Holsten Gate, the old salt storehouses, St. Peter’s Church, the imposing Town Hall overlooking the city’s Marketplace, St. Mary’s Church (the ‘mother of brick Gothic architecture’) and much more besides. You will then have 1.5 hours on your own to continue exploring the old city’s winding alleys before returning to Kiel. This tour includes a private bus transfer to and from Lübeck from Kiel (circa 1.5-2 hours each way) and will drop you back at your ship at the end.

Itinerary

1. Ostseekai

You will be met directly at your cruise ship and transferred in a private vehicle to Lübeck. The journey takes roughly 1.5 hours. 

2. Holsten Gate

Upon arrival you will be greeted by your own private English-speaking tour guide for a tour of Lübeck’s Old Town. First up is the city’s most iconic monument – the colossal red-brick city gate slumping under its own impressive weight.

3. Salt Storehouses

Entering the Old Town we stop first at the six historic buildings, built between the 16th and 18th centuries, in which salt mined in nearby Lüneberg was stored.

4. St. Peter's Church

Next we take in some of the finest views of Lübeck, climbing the tower of this gothic hall church turned exhibition and events center.

5. Lübeck Town Hall

Next we bathe in the splendour of one of the most beautiful pieces of town hall architecture in all of Germany.

6. St. Mary's Church

We then pay tribute to the ‘mother’ of northern German brick gothic architecture. The guided tour of Lübeck ends here.

7. Free Time

You will then approximately 1.5 hours of free time to continue exploring Lübeck. Your local guide will be happy to give you tips to aid in your exploration. 

8. Kiel Transfer and Ostseekai Drop-off

You will then be driven back to Kiel and dropped off directly at your cruise ship.

Cancellation Policy

- For groups of 1-6 people: free cancellation up to 48 hours in advance.

- For groups of 7+ people: free cancellation up to up to 7 days ahead. From 6 days in advance to 48 hours in advance, a 50% fee will apply.

- Cancellations less than 48 hours ahead or no-shows result in no refund.
