When you debark from your cruise ship, head outside the cruise terminal. Your guide will be waiting outside the security gate with a sign that says VEXPERIO.
Please note: we do NOT meet at the parking lot directly next to the cruise ships. Please head outside of the security gate - it is about a 3-minute walk, 1000ft / 300m.
Our Normandy Tour begins with a seamless pick-up in the port of Le Havre, where our experienced guide will meet you at the cruise port or at your hotel.
Our next stop on this solemn journey is the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Set amidst serene surroundings, this sacred site serves as the final resting place for over 9,000 American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Normandy invasion.
Walking among the perfectly aligned rows of white crosses and Stars of David, the magnitude of the sacrifice made by the Allies becomes apparent. Each marker represents a life cut short in the pursuit of freedom, a reminder of the profound impact of war.
Take a moment of reflection at the Memorial Chapel, a solemn tribute to the fallen. Here, you can pay your respects, offering gratitude for the bravery and selflessness displayed by these remarkable individuals. The meticulously maintained grounds and the tranquil atmosphere create a space for contemplation and remembrance.
The American cemetery also features a spectacular view over Omaha Beach, where thousands of American soldiers lost their lives.
Up next is the legendary Pointe du Hoc. Situated on a rugged cliff-top overlooking the English Channel, Pointe du Hoc stands as a testament to the remarkable courage and determination of the American Rangers during the D-Day invasion.
As we arrive at Pointe du Hoc, you'll be awestruck by the dramatic landscape and the sheer cliffs that the Rangers scaled amidst a hail of enemy fire. This strategic location was home to formidable German artillery positions that threatened the success of the invasion. The audacious assault by the American Rangers, who braved unimaginable odds to neutralize these threats, is a true testament to their valor and unwavering resolve.
As we conclude our memorable journey, we will embark on the drive back to cruise port Le Havre, our final destination. Relax and reflect on the profound experiences and historical insights gained throughout the tour, as the picturesque landscapes of Normandy pass by.
During the return journey, take a moment to contemplate the significance of the D-Day Landing beaches and the remarkable bravery of the American forces. Let the memories of the hallowed grounds, the stories of heroism, and the indomitable spirit of those who fought for freedom resonate within you.
