Overview

This 6-hour tour with a vehicle is Berlin’s most comprehensive tour. It covers all of the main points of interest in the German capital. Let one of our professional, local guides give you a crash course in Berlin’s history and the inside scoop on one of the most exciting cities on the planet, all from the comfort of your own vehicle.

Spanning the length and breadth of Berlin’s inner-city, thematically the tour covers Prussia, Imperial Germany, Nazism, and the Cold War – painting the bigger picture to help you understand how different periods of Berlin’s past fit together, and how they affect the city today. In short, it’s all you need to know.

Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel or a pre-arranged meeting point. You will then see the Reichstag, which burned down after Hitler’s rise to power but now stands as a bold symbol of modern German democracy. Pass through the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin’s most iconic landmark before walking in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, and crossing the border at Checkpoint Charlie, the frontier of the Cold War. Next, journey through the iconic concrete stelae of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and learn about the tragedy of the holocaust, before standing in the heart of Museum Island, the city’s architectural centre and a UNESCO world heritage site.

You will visit the city's former Jewish Quarter, where you can marvel at the Moorish splendour of the New Synagogue, as well as the old Nazi government quarter where you can see remaining examples of Nazi architecture, such as the former SS and Gestapo Headquarters, and the site of Hitler’s Bunker. You will also visit Gendarmenmarkt and Bebelplatz, two of Berlin’s most beautiful squares, and head into the heart of former West Berlin to see the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Memorial Church, the imperial splendour of the Charlottenburg Palace, the Tiergarten (Berlin’s ‘Central Park'), the Victory Column, and much, much more...

At the end of the tour, your guide will accompany you back to your hotel, or a drop-off point of your choosing. They will also give you tips and recommendations to help you make the most out of your stay.

As always your experience can be tailored to your preferences, so please let us know if you have any special requests or needs. We are also more than happy to help you with restaurant reservations and museum or gallery visits.

6. Victory Column

Make sure you have your camera ready to catch the sun glinting on the golden angel Victoria, goddess of victory, as you circle around Prussia's emphatic monument to its triumphs in the Wars of Unification.

7. Reichstag

When you reach the German parliament building – burned down after Hitler’s rise to power, now a bold symbol of modern German democracy – you will exit the vehicle and spend the next portion of the tour on foot. This is the best way to see Berlin’s central monuments.

After a short walk you will stand at the site of the bunker where history's most notorious criminal committed suicide at the end of WWII.

12. Potsdamer Platz

Getting back in the car you will be driven through the heart of modern Berlin, all constructed since 2001.

13. Berlin Wall/Former SS and Gestapo Headquarters

14. Checkpoint Charlie

Next you will cross between East and West at the most famous border crossing point over the Berlin Wall, frontline of the Cold War, where spies roamed and US and Soviet tanks faced off in 1961. There’ll be plenty of time for souvenir shopping.

15. Nikolaiviertel

We then head further into the former East and drive past the oldest district in Berlin.

16. TV Tower

Make sure to look up as we pass the second tallest building in Europe, built as a symbol of the East German state’s power and modernity in 1969.
