From Le Havre Cruise Port to the Beaches of Normandy

Finding the best transport option for any trip is a stressful experience. A new place, often an unfamiliar language, plus the variety of prices can be overwhelming. But we want you to relax. So we've decided to help you out a little. In this article we have put together some of the options for getting from the port of La Havre to the beaches of Normandy.

Based on many years of experience, we have taken into account several key factors. First is reliability. Nobody wants to plan a trip only to find out at the destination that a particular bus or train does not follow the route specified. Next, we looked at the availability of English. This is linked to reliability. We do not want to find ourselves in a situation where we have a problem or doubt and have to deal with it ourselves because of the language barrier. And, of course, price. If a mode of transport offers additional facilities, you will be able to find this out from us.

For those in a hurry, here is a brief overview! We will provide more details in the sections below.

1. Public transportation

Public transport is a cheap option. Yet, its low price comes at the expense of major inconveniences.

There is no direct connection from the port of La Havre to Normandy. To get to the beaches of Normandy, you have to take a bus from the port to Caen. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. From the station, you can take the tram to the departure point of the next bus in about 10-15 minutes. The last part of the journey would take over an hour, and to reach the beach we would have to walk for 0.5 hours. This adds up to more than 4 hours one way, assuming no delays. As you can see, this does not leave much time for sightseeing, especially if you want to get back to the port in time.

Time is also of the essence when it comes to finding a quick bite to eat. The constant traffic, running from station to station, takes energy and we suffer from a lack of time to eat. And it's impossible to enjoy the beauty of France on an empty stomach :)

Another inconvenience can be the lack of a guide and the language barrier. As we have already mentioned, the trip involves transfers and cross-country travel. Not being able to communicate in English can cause a lot of nervousness.

How much does it cost?

  • Bus tickets: about €40 (round trip)
  • Tram tickets: €4 (round trip)
  • The whole trip will come out to around €45-50 per person

2. Shore Excursion from Le Havre Cruise Port

The next option is a shore excursion where transport and a guide are provided. This is a friendly option for those who want to focus on a stress-free tour. You can also rest assured that you will not miss any of the attractions. An English speaking guide will be on hand to assist you.

With years of experience, Veperio has worked out the details to best suit the needs of tourists. Direct pick-up and drop-off from the harbour means you don't have to worry about finding a bus. Our knowledgeable guide will ensure your comfort and satisfy your curiosity. Places you can visit:

A delicious French baguette lunch is also provided. In short, something for the mind and something for the body. This tour is guaranteed to be time well spent.

3. Private shore excursions

For some, privacy and solitude are the most important aspects of travel. Trips are often a form of escape from the crowds and chaos of everyday life. For such people, there is the option of private transport to Normandy.

A private tour with Vexperio not only provides private transport directly from the port, but also your own guide. In intimate company, you have the most control over the direction of the tour and the breaks. And if you're willing to let your guide take the lead, you won't be disappointed.

How much does it cost?

The key issue of a private tour is the price. Such tours often reach as much as €1,000-1200 per person. Vexperio offers a private tour for €810.00.
