We begin the tour at the top of the Royal Mile, standing on the founding stone of Edinburgh, where you guide will give you an introduction to the city.
Edinburgh Castle is one of the world's most famous castles, dominating the skyline of the Scottish capital. Your local guide will explain the various buildings that make up the castle grounds, as well as highlight some of Scotland's most important history.
The beautiful St. Giles Cathedral is closely associated with many events and figures in Scottish history, perhaps most notably John Knox, who, after the Scottish Reformation, served as the Church's minister.
Next, your guide will show you what remains of the old city walls, and explain what life was like for those living within them.
Having been associated with the royal family for centuries, the Canongate Kirk is still, to this day, where the Queen attends Church, whilst visiting the Scottish capital. Your local guide will tell you about Scotland's most important kings and queens as you admire the 17th Century architecture.
Our local guide will explain why, even though the existence of the parliament is overwhelmingly popular in Scotland, the building itself is not. Learn how the Scottish parliament works, as well as the current state of Scottish politics.
Holyrood Palace is the Queen's official residence in Scotland, where she normally spends the month of July, before heading to her highland castle, Balmoral.
