Combine history, culture and gastronomy on this 4-hour walking tour. Taste the morning’s catch with a freshly prepared fish roll on the waterfront as you stroll past the huge ferries docked in the city’s main harbour before heading toward Kiel’s Old Town. Here you will see the stately Town Hall, the Kieler Hauptkirche (central church), and the city’s monastery – where you can sample local beers brewed by the monks while snacking on Kieler Sprotte (smoked fish traditionally served with beer). For dessert, there’s a visit to a bon-bon factory before the tour ends at the Old Market (a ten minute walk from the Ostseekai), where there is plenty of time to explore more of the city on your own. If you prefer, our guide will happily escort you back to your ship.

Heading into Kiel’s Old Town we will stand in the shadow of the building that has shaped the city’s image for more than 100 years.
Next we head to Kiel’s oldest building, taking time to admire the notable art works both inside and outside the city’s central church.
We then stop off to try some fresh, local beer brewed by Franciscan monks accompanied by Kieler Sprotte – delicious smoked fish.
For dessert we sample the myriad treats of the nearby candy manufacturers.
Finally we spend some time exploring Kiel’s charming historic marketplace.
Your guide will then accompany you back to your ship.
